Having decided to become an independent funeral celebrant, I completed and passed the National Qualification NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy. This means that:

I have achieved the highest possible qualification in Funeral Celebrancy in the UK;

I have been rigorously assessed for my skill and suitability as a Funeral Celebrant;

I am able to create and deliver an appropriate and unique funeral ceremony with sensitivity and empathy.

I am a member of the Institute of Civil Funerals and I adhere to the Funeral Celebrant Accord.

Before becoming a funeral celebrant, I was the Head of a primary school. In my early working life, I spent 13 years in the corporate world. I am also a trained and experienced counsellor and coach, and this background has enabled me to be able to work effectively and sensitively with individuals and families from a diverse range of cultures, beliefs and backgrounds. I am familiar with being with people at times of difficulty or stress, and my hope is to 'hold' you in your bereavement, and enable you to make the funeral meaningful and manageable. In this way, you will feel more able in time to move forward, knowing that your wishes were respected and the life of the deceased was honoured.
